Basketball Clinic

BOYS & GIRLS BASKETBALL CLINIC AND COACHES EDUCATION
June 8-10, 2026
Camp Overview
Over these three days, athletes and coaches will be introduced to evidence-based approaches to skill development such as the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) and Differential Learning (DL). These methods focus on creating training environments that ensure learning transfers directly to game situations.

For Athletes
Athletes will explore different ways of moving, coordinating, and solving problems on the court based on their own uniquely built bodies. The goal is to develop greater adaptability, dexterity, and creativity in movement.
Rather than learning a single “correct” solution, athletes will learn to generate multiple solutions to the same problem and decide which one is most effective in real time—for themselves and their teammates.
Every activity will challenge athletes to improve their decision-making, because in the game you must constantly evaluate changing situations. Athletes will also learn to understand the game through concepts and principles rather than memorized plays, because the most skilled players know how to play, not just what to play.

For Coaches
Coaches will gain a deeper understanding of how to design learning environments that promote both skill development and game transfer.
You will learn to see skill not as repetition of perfect technique, but as something that emerges through exploration, adaptability, and interaction with the environment.
Throughout the camp, coaches will observe how athletes are presented with dynamic problems to solve, and how collaboration and guided conversations help athletes become creative decision-makers and adaptive problem solvers—the qualities required to succeed at the highest levels.

What We Will Focus On
Across the three days, sessions will blend player development with team concepts to create a well-rounded experience for both athletes and coaches.
Areas we will explore include:
- General movement and coordination skills
- Adaptable movement solutions
- Off-ball movement and creating advantages
- Understanding and applying spacing principles
- Decision-making within game-like situations

Coach Development Session
Coaches will also participate in a dedicated development session focused on designing effective training environments.
Topics will include:
- Setting the optimal level of challenge for athletes
- Understanding how information shapes movement decisions
- Learning how to manipulate constraints to guide learning
- Adjusting task difficulty without separating decisions from actions
By the end of the camp, coaches will leave with practical tools to design training environments that develop adaptable, intelligent, and creative basketball players.
