PHILOSOPHY
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Schmidt Performance, we believe basketball training should reflect the demands of the game itself — fast, dynamic, and unpredictable. Our goal is to create smarter, more adaptable players who can thrive in any situation. Instead of relying on outdated drills or rote repetition, we use evidence-based methods and game-like environments to ensure skills developed in training transfer directly to competition.
A key part of our philosophy is adaptability. No two possessions in basketball are ever the same, which is why we challenge athletes with variability and problem-solving in practice. By encouraging creativity and exploration, we help players build a broad toolbox of skills, rather than forcing them into a single “ideal” technique. This approach allows athletes to respond with confidence and flexibility no matter how the game unfolds.
We also emphasize professionalism and long-term development. Every athlete at Schmidt Performance follows an individualized player development plan. These plans are built around each player’s unique strengths, areas for growth, and goals. Each session is purposeful, structured, and engaging, with coaches fully committed to the athletes in front of them. Parents can trust that their child is in a safe, positive environment where growth and learning are prioritized over quick fixes. We believe in building habits that last — from discipline and focus to resilience and teamwork.
Above all, Schmidt Performance views basketball as more than a game. It is a tool for teaching life lessons, building character, and fostering a love for the process of improvement. Whether working with youth players, high school athletes, or professionals, our mission remains the same: to help every athlete unlock their full potential and become a complete player — skilled, adaptable, and confident both on and off the court.
